Apply For BGFC 2026 For Teen Girls INTERESTED IN STORYTELLING AND READY TO DIRECT YOUR OWN FILM? THIS IS A FREE PROGRAM The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2026, from February 27 to June 27, 2026, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. The camp targets high school girls between the ages of 13 and 18 years old. Applications close on Oct. 31, 2025 at 11:59pm ET. Interested participants must be: In high school and between the ages of 13 and 18 Self-identify as a girl or gender expansive Interested in storytelling and film Requirements: Attend virtual orientation on 2/4/2026 from 7pm - 9pm EST Commit to 7 Saturday sessions between 3/7 - 6/13/2026 Attend a Writers Retreat in Kissimmee, FL from 2/26 - 3/1/2026 (All expenses covered EXCEPT transportation) Attend Shoot Weekend in Atlanta, GA from 5/15 - 5/18/2026 (All expenses covered, including transportation) Attend Premiere Weekend in Charlotte, NC from 6/25 - 6/28/2026 (All expenses covered EXCEPT transportation ) Write and direct a 5 - 7 minute short film Lead a production team with a film editor, production coach, cinematographer, and alumni coach. In Spring 2023, Black Girls Film Camp provided its second annual all-expenses paid LA Production Retreat at USC in partnership with USC Annenberg's Critical Media Project for teen directors, their editor, coach, and a parent to attend. This trip was held from April 26th - May 1st, 2023. During the weekend retreat, participants attended sessions led by USC Annenberg and The School of Cinematic Arts' professors, UTA agents, Salli Richardson Whitfield, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Shaun Robinson, engaged in a customized visit and experience at Array's Creative Campus and Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, attended a high tea hosted by Board Member and filmmaker, Nichelle Tramble Spellman, took a shooting basics course taught by Miki Turner, and visited the Academy Museum.
