For Teen Girls

INTERESTED IN STORYTELLING AND READY
TO DIRECT YOUR OWN FILM?
THIS IS A COMPLETELY FREE PROGRAM

The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2024, from February 24 to June 22, 2024, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. The camp targets high school girls between the ages of 13 and 18 years old. Applications close on Oct. 31, 2023 at 11:59pm ET.

 

Interested participants must be:

  • In high school 

  • Between the ages 13 and 18

  • Self-identify as a girl or gender expansive

  • Interested in storytelling and film

  • Attend virtual orientation on 2/12/24 from 7pm - 8:30pm EST

  • Commit to 9 Saturday sessions between 2/24 - 6/22/24

  • Attend a weekend production retreat in LA (Paid for by the camp)

  • Write and direct a  4 - 6 minute short film

  • Lead a production team with a film editor, production coach, and alumni coach

Editors

The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2024, from February 24 to June 22, 2024, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. Adult Black women (18+) creatives and filmmakers are encouraged to apply for the editor position which includes a paid stipend. Applications close on October 31, 2023 at 11:59pm EST.

 

Interested editors must be:

  • Age 18 or older

  • Self identify as a woman or gender expansive

  • Have film or video editing experience

  • Provide links to work in the application

  • Provide editing services to support one teen's film project

  • Work collaboratively with a teen director and production coach to create a film

  • Commit to 9 Saturday sessions between 2/24 - 6/22/24

  • Attend a weekend production retreat in LA (Paid for by the camp) 4/26 - 4/28/24

  • Attend virtual orientation on 2/12/24 from 7pm - 8:30pm EST

Production Coaches

The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2024, from February 24 to June 22, 2024, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. Current college and grad students majoring in film or media are encouraged to apply for the Production Coach position which includes a paid stipend. Applications close on October 31, 2023 at 11:59pm EST. (Recent grads are welcome to apply)

 

Interested Production Coaches must be:

  • Age 18 or older

  • Self identify as a woman or gender expansive

  • Recent graduate or current film student in college

  • Provide links to work in the application

  • Provide production services to support one teen's film project

  • Work collaboratively with a teen director and editor to create a film

  • Commit to 9 Saturday sessions between 2/24 - 6/22/24

  • Attend a weekend production retreat in LA (Paid for by the camp) 4/26 - 4/28/24

  • Attend virtual orientation on 2/12/24 from 7pm - 8:30pm EST
