For Teen Girls

THIS IS A FREE PROGRAM

The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2025, from February 28 to June 21, 2025, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. The camp targets high school girls between the ages of 13 and 18 years old. Applications close on Oct. 31, 2024 at 11:59pm ET.

 

Interested participants must be:

  • In high school and between the ages of 13 and 18

  • Self-identify as a girl or gender expansive

  • Interested in storytelling and film

Requirements:

  • Attend virtual orientation on 2/12/2025 from 7pm - 9pm EST

  • Commit to 7 Saturday sessions between 3/8 - 6/14/2025

  • Attend a Writers Retreat in Kissimmee, FL from 2/28 - 3/2/2025 (All expenses covered except transportation)

  • Attend a Production Retreat in Los Angeles, CA (All expenses covered) 5/15 - 5/20/2025

  • Attend Premiere Weekend in Charlotte, NC from 6/20 - 6/22/2025  (All expenses covered except transportation)

  • Write and direct a  4 - 6 minute short film

  • Lead a production team with a film editor, production coach, cinematographer, and alumni coach.

Editors

The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2025, from February 28 to June 21, 2025, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. Adult women (18+) editors and filmmakers are encouraged to apply for the Editor position, which includes a paid stipend. Applications close on October 31, 2024 at 11:59pm EST.

 

Interested editors must be:

  • Age 18 or older

  • Self identify as a woman or gender expansive

  • Have film or video editing experience

  • Provide links to work in the application

  • Provide editing services to support one teen's film project

  • Work collaboratively with a teen director, production coach, cinematographer, and alumni coach to create a 5 - 6 minute short film

  • Commit to 7 Saturday sessions between 3/8 - 6/14/2025

  • Attend a Production Retreat in LA (Paid for by the camp) 5/16 - 5/20/25

  • Attend virtual orientation on 2/12/2025 from 7pm - 9pm EST

Production Coaches

The Black Girls Film Camp will be held virtually in Spring 2025, from February 28 to June 21, 2025, on select Saturdays from 10 am - 1:30 pm EST. Adult women (18+) creative producers and filmmakers are encouraged to apply for the Production Coach position, which includes a paid stipend. Applications close on October 31, 2024 at 11:59pm EST. 

 

Interested Production Coaches must be:

  • Age 18 or older

  • Self identify as a woman or gender expansive

  • Have prior film or theater production experience

  • Provide links to work in the application

  • Provide production services to support one teen's film project

  • Work collaboratively with a teen director, editor, cinematographer, and alumni coach to create a 5 - 6 minute short film

  • Commit to 7 Saturday sessions between 3/8 - 6/14/2025

  • Attend a Production Retreat in LA (Paid for by the camp) 5/16 - 5/20/25

  • Attend virtual orientation on 2/12/2025 from 7pm - 9pm EST
